Today is Father’s Day.
“Being a father has been, without a doubt, my greatest source of achievement, pride and inspiration. Fatherhood has taught me about unconditional love, reinforced the importance of giving back and taught me how to be a better person.”

Father’s Day at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation
As families around the nation honor their fathers and celebrate this day, Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation acknowledges the important role of the many fathers who have chosen to become residents at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation.
We are privileged to give back and are grateful for your contributions in raising such wonderful children.
Appreciating our Fathers
A father isn’t only about financial security or having someone loving attend to our needs. In-fact according to the research, “fathers self-efficacy and warmth in parenting are the most powerful predictors of children’s improved health, academic, social and emotional outcomes.”
That’s an impressive range of areas, which encompass so much of our lives. So, your success in any of these areas may be in part to your dad’s contributions.
Fatherhood as an Identity
In the eyes of most fathers, parenting isn’t just about filling a role but an important part of their identities. This finding was found to be true in a 2015 survey by the Pew Research Center. In-fact, dads and moms were basically equal when it came to “saying parenting is extremely important to their identity” (dads, 57%; moms 58%).
So, here’s a great Father’s Day gift that doesn’t cost too much: let your dad know what a great father he’s been for you.
It’s pretty simple. By showing sincere appreciation for something he greatly appreciates, you may just hit a deep rung in his identity. What a great way to give back to the man who has given you so much.
Before you tell your dad how much you appreciate him, take a few minutes and reflect. What memories come up for you? Tell him about the particular lessons you learned from him. Remind him about the values you cherish. And celebrate the day together.
What are you appreciative of this Father’s Day?
